Gelato World Cup 2024. Singapore and Taiwan qualify for Asia

It was a challenge to the last ice cream, the one that took place in Singapore, within the second edition of the Asian Gelato Cup.

The Singapore team, led by captain and pastry chef Francis Wong, won first place thanks to its variety of presentations, flavours, textures and innovative ice creams. Second place for the Taiwan team, while third place went to South Korea. The top two teams will then compete in 2024 at the Gelato World Cup, the world competition to be held in Italy, specifically in Rimini within the SIGEP show. The South Korean team, as bronze medallist, will be a reserve. Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are therefore excluded for this round. Each team captain was part of the jury, whose head was the Italian Sergio Dondoli, a member of the Gelato World Cup board.

The theme of this edition was ‘Tropical Paradise’. The tests that each team had to face day by day during the competition were different: ice cream making, plate dessert, ice cream cake, entrée with gastronomic ice cream (new for this edition), artistic showpiece and final presentation buffet.

Next stop for the Gelato World Cup will be the Gelato Europe Cup, in January 2023, which will decide which countries on the European continent will participate in the 2024 World Cup.
