The gelato cups of the H-CUP line represent the synthesis of Medac’s most advanced design achievements regarding environmental protection: they can be recycled more effectively making them more sustainable. They are made from paper specifically developed with a water dispersion barrier that dissolves during the recycling process. This makes the process faster and it favours the recovery of a greater quantity of cellulose fibers. Water is exactly what inspired the name of the line. H recalls the chemical formula H2O, which in chemistry represents the water resource. It is also the first letter of Heart and the last letter of Earth, two words chosen by this Italian company to create the line’s logo: a heart that encloses the planet, outlined by three arrows that rotate around its perimeter, symbolizing the virtuous cycle of these Medac cups. The graphics on the containers evoke nature thanks to bright images of fruit that also serve as an invitation to enjoy the gelato they contain. On Medac’s website, there is a section dedicated to sustainability with an in-depth description of the principles underlying the company’s responsible approach, which already in 2006 had obtained the UNI EN ISO 14001 “Environmental Management Systems” certification. Medac recently achieved the Ecovadis Gold Medal, a recognition that attests its commitment to the development of practices oriented towards environmental and social sustainability.
