of an experiment aimed at measuring neurosensory reactions while tasting gelato. The test was conducted last May as part of the workshop “Nutrage - Nutrition, Diet and Active Ageing”, a project with Mig’s active participation. The “guinea pigs” who participated were Michele Dal Farra himself and Mig’s coordinator, Alessandro Piccinini, who, wearing electrodes, tasted a cup of gelato to which a natural antioxidant molecule was added. Prestigious events As usual, there will be numerous events that will accompany the exhibition. The 54th edition of the “Coppa d’Oro” international competition will see gelato makers from all over the world compete against each other in creating a milk-based pistachio gelato. Now in its fourth edition, the Mig Green competition will reward the stand with the lowest environmental impact and the most sustainable gelato parlour. The “Gelato for the Olympics” competition will see its second round of selections, aiming to chose a gelato flavour that best represents the values of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics 2026. Last but not least, the 28th Maestro Gelato Artisans Prize will be awarded, dedicated to a “family” or to people who have been able to promote and give value to artisanal gelato. The 64th edition of Mig Longarone (Belluno, Italy) confirms itself as a privileged event for high-level business in the artisanal gelato world. A historic fair with a well-established tradition (the first edition took place in 1959), Mig has always shown attention to the evolution of the industry. Exhibitors from more than 20 countries are expected at the event, showcasing a complete range of products, including raw and semi-processed ingredients; equipment and accessories for the preparation and sale of artisanal gelato; indoor and outdoor furniture for gelato, coffee and chocolate shops; promotional materials and services. Rendezvous with research The combination of gelato and science will catalyse the attention of professionals, thanks to the collaboration between Mig and Cnr. At the fair, a match between companies and research will be proposed, with the aim of accompanying a transfer of technology. “We want to facilitate communication between these two worlds that only apparently are distant, such as those of scientific laboratories and of companies”, declared the president of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, Michele Dal Farra. “Innovation, where Italian companies are already masters, can dialogue very well with the world of research and thus open up new avenues of work”. There are great expectations regarding the results A history that talks about the future MIG 24 - 27 NOVEMBER 2024 - WWW.MOSTRADELGELATO.COM 160
