Medac and AIFA: Hip hip hooray for Charles!
The first academic course of the Alice Italian Food Academy in Nairobi has ended. Among the graduates, there is also Charles the very young “new chef” who has benefited from the direct support of the sponsorship of Medac.
Promoted by Alice For Children, the Academy offers the boys of the favelas the opportunity to undertake a training path to become chefs specialized in Italian cuisine.
During the three months spent in the kitchen, the 18 young people who attended the course learned 180 recipes under the guidance of some teachers of the Carlo Porta Institute of Food and Wine in Milan.
At the end of the course, a celebration day was organized for the award of diplomas in the presence of the parents of the children and various guests, including the Italian Ambassador of Kenya. The program of the event began with a lunch organized by the students themselves, followed by a series of interventions held by the managers of Alice, including one dedicated to the “Benefits of an Italian diet”. At the end of the meeting the certificates were delivered, with photo-remembrance together with the Ambassador.
In 2024 the students will start their internships at various restaurants and accommodation facilities in Nairobi.
